This American folk song, known also as “Stag Lee,” is about a 1895 murder in St. Louis on Christmas. Stag was the nickname of Lee Shelton, a pimp who often “went stag” to social events, probably to drum up more ladies for his business! However, our business is to play the famous tune as a duet for a standard and rockin’ bass dulcimer! A 1+ fret is required on both instruments with no workaround.
