I use several forms of syncopation in most of my playing to create rhythmic interest and punch. Learning how to accurately practice, count, and execute syncopation is often a challenge, so we’ll take an easy and familiar tune and use it as a vehicle to solidify understanding through experimentation. Discussing the different types of syncopation, we’ll be working through the framework of a lead pattern to keep the beats organized and predictable.
